Travel Team is a book about Danny Walker. He is the son of former NBA player and Travel Team legend Richie Walker. Richie was the star of the Travel Team for his small home town. They were the underdogs through the entire tournament, but they won the championship. Richie later became an NBA star, until a tragic car crash ended his career. Since the crash, Richie has been divorced, and an alchohalic. Richie's son Danny is a short, and talented basketball player. He tries to make the team that his father made famous, but he fails again because he is too small in the eyes of the coach. With his father and a couple of his friends, he does much better and was made head coach of his own team that Richie started for him. As the season goes on, they start doing better, until Danny learns that his father was in another car crash.
